What to measure
Count the steps, note any turns, and measure the narrowest point.
- Number of steps in each flight
- Landings and their size
- Turn direction at landings
- Handrails that may or may not be removable
Why it matters
Stair moves usually need more people and different equipment. The contractor decides whether the staircase can be used safely and what the plan will be.
When stairs are not the answer
